Air New Zealand to convert tries and tackles to cash for the Vodafone Warriors' favourite charities
Air New Zealand is backing the Vodafone Warriors not just to win their NRL preliminary final on Saturday night - but to
score a sizeable donation for charity.
The airline will stump up $1000 for each point the Warriors score during their match against the Manly Sea Eagles, along
with $100 for each tackle made by Steve Price's gallant men.
Air New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Rob Fyfe says the Warriors have inspired thousands of Kiwis with gutsy
performances that have secured them a place in the preliminary final in Sydney.
"As a uniquely Kiwi airline that regularly flies the Warriors across the Tasman, we'd love nothing more than to see the
team go all the way this year."
Rob Fyfe says the $100 contribution for each tackle recognises that the last two games have been won as much through the
Vodafone Warriors' outstanding defensive commitment as their formidable attacking capabilities.
"The Warriors are committed, passionate and determined to win across the Tasman for their fans and for New Zealand. They
are a great inspiration to us at Air New Zealand and the challenge we face from other international airlines here in New
Zealand," says Rob Fyfe.
Vodafone Warriors Chief Executive Wayne Scurrah says the club was thrilled with Air New Zealand's initiative for
Saturday night's clash.
"This is a fantastic commitment on Air New Zealand's part. We really appreciate their support throughout the season and
the effort they've gone to with this commitment.
"The team can expect to make anything up to 300 tackles against Manly and hopefully we'll score a lot of points, so
we're looking forward to trying to secure a big windfall for our charities.
"The Air New Zealand contribution will be distributed between the club's 2008 charity partners - Kidz First and DebRA
New Zealand."
Rob Fyfe said Air New Zealand would welcome any other corporate showing similar support for the Vodafone Warriors this
weekend.
