Ministry announces desktop and notebook supplier
The Ministry of Social Development today announced the vendor to supply its personal desktop and notebook computers for the next three years.
"Following a joint tender between the Ministry and New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF), the Ministry has chosen Dell New Zealand Limited," said Chief Information Officer Tim Occleshaw.
"Choosing Dell offers the Ministry the benefits of continuing to work with its present supplier while also achieving significant cost efficiencies."
The Ministry issued a joint Registration of Interest (ROI) in January 2008 for the supply agreement. Software will be replaced when required with the agreement worth up to $9 million over the three years.
"The successful vendor has a long standing relationship with the Ministry and the joint tender process worked well for the Ministry and NZDF," Mr Occleshaw said.
"It produced a variety of vendors capable of delivering quality IT equipment and value for money. The Ministry will now enter into Contract negotiations with Dell and we expect to reach an agreement by mid-December."
