Dynamic Dunedin based technology business expands in Mosgiel
TracMap NZ Ltd, a Dunedin based award winning start-up business and New Zealand’s largest agricultural GPS guidance and
mapping system for agriculture, will open their new building in Mosgiel with the Mayor of Dunedin, Peter Chin being
flown in by helicopter and delivered in a Fert Truck, on Thursday 4 September at 5pm.
TracMap, a 100% New Zealand designed and owned business, has expanded from a staff of 2 in 2005, when product
development started, to a New Zealand wide company with a team of 15.
TracMap is also using the opening event as an opportunity to showcase their new software development for the aviation
industry and a glimpse at a new system for land based applications. Approx. 170 people are expected to be attending the
event, which will also include a dinner function.
With recent job losses in the region, TracMap is a success story in a tough industry sector and acknowledges the support
it has received from the rural sector and local community.

Dunedin is a city capable of supporting the growth of technology based businesses like TracMap."

TracMap is a successful start up business incubated by Upstart Business Incubator and supported by the Dunedin City
Council, Economic Development Unit.
The Dunedin technology based company recently scooped top Telecommunication Users Association of New Zealand (TUANZ)
Rural award for "most innovative rural product, service or initiative developed in New Zealand, and delivered
electronically to New Zealanders, which enhances productivity in the rural sector, whether it be in agribusiness,
farming, the dairy industry, horticulture or otherwise."
TracMap was also a finalist in three other categories at the TUANZ awards, Initiative of the year, Mobile application of
the year and ICT Innovator of the year.
TracMap was also recently listed as one of three finalists in the Gen-I NZ Incubator awards for Innovation of the Year
category.
TracMap provides a complete agricultural and horticultural GPS guidance and proof of placement mapping package for
vehicles operating in demanding outdoor environments. For fertiliser spreading contractors it can achieve a 15%
productivity gain and reduce environmental impact from fertiliser application.
