Dallas Fisher Joins Forces with People Publishing
Founders of People Publishing have added extra weight to their business portfolio by welcoming well-known Waikato businessman Dallas Fisher into the business as a shareholder.
Fisher, a former Coopers & Lybrand partner, is current owner and director of Hamilton-based global engineering company NDA group, co-owner and director of Hamilton-based Brandish Advertising; Independent Chair of Go Bus Ltd, Independent Director for the Waikato Chiefs Rebel Sport Super 14 franchise; and is involved in the hospitality industry as partner of Montana Catering Company, the business responsible for managing the massive catering contracts for Waikato Stadium, Taupo’s A1GP and the country’s largest streetcar race, Hamilton’s V8 Supercars event. He was also the recipient of the Retail & Industrial Category, Ernst Entrepreneur of the Year 2008.
Last month Fisher announced the launch of a new Sky subscriber channel aimed at the agricultural sector – The Country Channel.
People Publishing founder, Mike Taillie, said Fisher brings a huge amount to People Publishing, with his vast business experience across a range of industries.
“Having Dallas on board gives us access not only the benefit of his extensive business expertise, but provides us with natural links to a range of business opportunities that will greatly assist our growth plans.
“After only a short time with Dallas on board we are already seeing the substantial benefits of what is effectively a business partnership,” Taillie said.
Fisher says there are a number of reasons that made his investment in People Publishing a logical move.
“There were a number of synergies that meant our businesses would work extremely effectively together. Plus Mike and Travis had some pretty exciting plans in the pipeline for People Publishing and it was clear that joining forces would provide all parties with greater opportunities to grow.
“For example, I’ve just launched a country channel for SKY subscribers targeting the agricultural community - there’s great opportunity for a title to support this channel and as absolute experts in the publishing arena, People Publishing are the perfect team to facilitate this.
Fisher continued to say: “The team at People Publishing is pushing the boundaries of publishing in New Zealand, launching Weekend magazine last year and further plans to launch several exciting new titles over the next 18 months. They are absolute experts in the field of magazine publishing, marketing and distribution and have a unique ability to quickly turn ideas into plans and plans into reality.”
