Utimaco launches in Australia and New Zealand
Leading global provider of data security solutions opens office in Sydney to support local customer base and extend reseller network
Auckland, New Zealand, August 26, 2008 / Utimaco – The Data Security Company, today announced it has opened its first Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ) office in Sydney to better support the company’s existing local customer base and extend its reseller network. Current A/NZ partners are Lenovo and Sophos as resellers and global IT security solutions distributor COMPUTERLINKS, all of which will play an increasingly important role as an extension of Utimaco’s sales team. The company’s local customers include many Federal Government agencies, large insurance companies, banks, and a range of commercial entities including organisations like Bayer, British American Tobacco, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Reuters, Stihl and Syngenta.
Utimaco also today announced with COMPUTERLINKS two new Utimaco Certified Bronze Partners for its SafeGuard data encryption solutions, Shearwater Solutions and CompSec. In addition, Utimaco and Sophos have entered into a reseller contract for Utimaco’s SafeGuard Enterprise and a mutual referral agreement for all products of both companies.
Heading up the A/NZ operation is Colin Lim who joined Utimaco in July 2008 as Regional Manager, Australia & New Zealand. From the base in Sydney, Lim will drive Utimaco’s efforts to become a dominant provider in the region and keep close contact with partners, resellers and customers. He has many years experience in establishing the Australian and New Zealand business operations for various global IT security vendors including Reflex Security and Fortinet.
Marc Wilczek, Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Utimaco, commented, “Behind the decision to open an office in Sydney is a recent strategic decision by Utimaco to focus on the Asia/Pacific region in general and in particular Australia and New Zealand. This is because we’ve identified increased demand in this market, across all vertical industries, for our leading information protection and control solutions among enterprise customers.”
“The new company here in A/NZ is backed by the full financial and technical resources of our German parent company, including access to our customer support centre in Hong Kong and the expertise of Utimaco’s recently launched new R centre near Boston, which is charged with developing new features and functionalities for DLP,” he added.
Colin Lim commented on his immediate focus, “Our aim is to build our channel in order to help Australian and New Zealand enterprises and government departments meet their growing data protection needs. “Data leakage prevention (DLP) has been identified as a key technology for organisations requiring a comprehensive solution to protect all their data – whether at rest or in motion. Utimaco’s world leading products meet the increasing demand for uniform data security policies across all devices that hold or transport data including notebooks, USB memory sticks, CD/DVDs, external hard drives, PDAs, desktop computers and even network servers. It also presents strong new business opportunities for A/NZ resellers,” said Lim.
