AMCHAM Digital Business Forum to reveal aspects of Government’s digital strategy
August 5 2008 The American Chamber of Commerce hosts the Digital Future Now event on 13 August in Auckland, featuring
the Hon. David Cunliffe, Minister for Communication and Information Technology and business leaders from throughout the
country. The event aims to discuss the digital strategy for New Zealand.
Mr Cunliffe will be discussing aspects of the Broadband Investment Fund, as well as direction the government’s digital
strategy. Debate around the proposed digital strategy will be fuelled by a number of leading industry participants,
including New Zealand Institute CEO David Skilling, CEO of TUANZ Ernie Newman, journalist and online publisher Bernard
Hickey and the Minister himself. Other key digital business practitioners speaking at the event include Ian Taylor of
Animation Research, renowned bloggers Richard McManus of ReadWriteWeb and Mauricio Freitas of Geekzone, AIM Proximity
CEO Darryn Melrose and blogger and media personality Russell Brown of Public Address and TVNZ’s Media7.
The Digital Future Now event will feature speakers and panel discussions covering a range of digital fields including
telecommunications, identity protection, blogging, direct and interactive marketing, social networking, mobile
marketing, and data storage.
The AMCHAM Digital Future Now one-day business forum is a follow up to last year’s Digital Future Summit, which was
organised by the Ministry for Economic Development, and held in Auckland. Unlike the November event, this forum will
concentrate on the government’s digital strategy for New Zealand business specifically. To register for the event, go to
