"These companies are the best of the best in their category," says Ian Blair, General Manager of Westpac's Business Banking. "We have always been highly impressed with the standard of entries, and the 2008 line-up is particularly dynamic. In this challenging economic environment, it's great to see such commitment to business discipline from the entrants. On behalf of Westpac I would like to congratulate all finalists, and we are greatly looking forward to the Gala Dinner and announcement of the winners in a month's time."
Manukau City Council instigated the awards 16 years ago to recognise, encourage and assist business growth and development.
Acting Mayor Gary Troup says that successful businesses help to build a successful city and help keep the economy ticking so people can be happy, secure and thriving.
"These businesses that have been named finalists have some brilliant stories to tell about their success. The awards offer a place to tell them and put all of Manukau in the spotlight."
Winners in each category, plus the Westpac Manukau Business of the Year and the Marley New Zealand Ltd Small Business of the Year, will be revealed at a gala dinner at the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre on Friday 5 September 2008.
