Interislander Ferries Running - Passengers Being Advised to Check Their Onward Travel
The Interislander ferry services are running smoothly today, however we are advising passengers to check their onward travel from Picton.
We have been in continual contact with Transit New Zealand since yesterday on the state of the roads and are updating our advice to passengers based on this information. We have been in contact with booked passengers on all north to south sailings today advising them that some South Island roads are closed and advising them to check with Transit New Zealand before travelling.
All passengers are being offered the opportunity to rebook on a later date.
Passengers (vehicle and walk on) arriving at the Wellington ferry terminal are being advised that SH1 south of Blenheim is currently closed and we do not have a reopen time yet. They are also being offered a rebooking option (at no charge).
Commercial vehicle customers have also been advised of road closures before catching the ferry to Picton.
Passengers may be travelling to a destination in Picton, or down roads that are open, but we are giving passengers as much information as we can before they sail. We are updating this information as it becomes available.
