Online Jobsite sets out to make written CV’s a thing of the past
In a market dominated by big Australian companies a Wellington based online jobsite is about to go head-on with the
competition.
Although no easy task, CVBank believes it has the right formula for job seekers and employers, one that challenges the
traditional methods of online recruitment.
Key to this is using video technology, and being the first online jobsite in New Zealand to do so.
CVBank Managing Director, Scott Jackson says video technology, which is becoming a standard offering in overseas
jobsites, allows for greater interaction between job seekers and employers.
“These days, qualifications and experience are not the only things that form the perfect candidate. Of equal importance
is personality, how one fits into a team, and the impact a candidate might have on those they interact with in the
workplace,” Mr Jackson says.
“With New Zealand recruitment agencies highlighting these facts regularly, we felt the local job market was ready for
video technology to be made available, in an online, public domain.”
What’s more, Mr Jackson believes the written Curriculum Vitae will soon become a second tier means of showcasing ones
abilities, due to its two-dimensional nature and relatively limited format.
“More often than not, a candidate’s personality is not discovered until the interview phase. Allowing people and
businesses to express their personality through video, from day one of the job seeking process, maximises the
opportunity for a perfect match sooner,” says Mr Jackson.
CVBank’s video technology allows candidates to upload video CV’s and employers to upload promotional videos to showcase
their businesses.
“In the near future we're also looking to extend our video capabilities to allow candidates and job advertisers to video
chat to each other in real time using our interface” says Mr Jackson.
While video technology may be the way forward in online recruitment, CVBank acknowledges that having the core
foundations, common to all online jobsites, is equally important.
“As much as we are encouraging the use of our video technology, CVBank also has the standard job site capabilities such
as posting ads, uploading written CV’s and browsing and applying for jobs.”
