We want to shine the spotlight on New Zealand's design in business champions!
The Designers Institute of New Zealand and Better by Design are on the lookout for New Zealand's champions of design in
business.
Since you are in the business of design we thought who better to approach to see if you knew where we could find some
New Zealand design in business champions to enter the 2008 Design in Business Awards, which have just opened for entry.
Established in 1997, the Design in Business Awards are an initiative of the Designers Institute of New Zealand that seek
to recognise the powerful role of design in adding value, building brands and creating strategic innovations which
improve a businesses performance.
The Design in Business Award, which aims to promote the link between an investment in design and business growth, is for
New Zealand companies that have profited from strategically investing in and incorporating design into their business.
The Award is for companies that are embedding design into their business processes. It is for those that look at design
as something more than a product or something that makes things look prettier - those that use design thinking to
improve their businesses. It is for businesses that as a consequence of using design are gaining a sustainable
competitive advantage over rivals, commanding price premiums, gaining market share and increasing exports.
To be more specific, the Award is for design projects or design strategies that have generated measurable results for an
organisation, such as increases in sales, profitability, brand value, market share or internal economic improvements.
We know there are a lot of these design in business champions out there - we've already uncovered a number of Kiwi
success stories including past Design in Business Award winners Icebreaker, OBO, Glidepath, Formway Furniture, Orca,
Zambesi, Mokum and highly commended entrants Air New Zealand, and now we want to put the spotlight on more.
So, if you have a client or know of a company which has "seen the light" and has used design to drive innovation and
business growth, then what are you waiting for - now's the time to encourage them to enter the Design in Business Award.
Entry to the Design in Business Award closes at 5pm, Friday August 8, 2008 and there is no entry fee.
Entry forms can be downloaded from the Design in Business Awards website, http:// designinbusiness.dinz.org.nz by calling (09) 377 2907 or emailing designinbusiness@dockstreet.co.nz
