Dan launches ‘green’ Jockey range.
Dan Carter’s favourite underwear brand has come up with a great new way to stay comfortable and help the planet.
Jockey has launched a new range of men’s underpants called Jockey Modal. An environmentally friendly product, modal is a 100 per cent natural and renewable fibre extracted from beech trees.
And the man who is the kingpin of the country’s premier rugby team is happy to lend his name to the new range by doing some green fingers work of his own.
With the help of pupils at Fendalton Primary School in Christchurch, Dan Carter has planted a grove of beech trees to celebrate the launch of the new range and help educate the next generation of New Zealanders about environmental sustainability.
Dan Carter says; "This range has been produced with the environment in mind – the raw production is sustainable with processes being optimized and the by-products being recovered – but they’re still just as comfy as ever to wear.
"That’s why I’m pleased to be the Jockey ambassador. We really need to protect our environment and I’m glad that Jockey is taking steps in the right direction."
Emma Wotherspoon a Year Four student from Fendalton Primary School said: "It’s really cool having Dan here and it was fun planting the beech trees for Jockey."
Jockey’s Modal is a quality, durable and enduring fabric that is exceptionally light against the skin.
"We would never compromise when it comes to comfort," says Jockey product manager Amanda Carmichael. "In being environmentally responsible it has also been important for us to ensure the Jockey comfort tradition is maintained – even if the underwear is partly made from wood!"
Ms Carmichael says the modal-cotton mix helps to stabilise garment shape. There is one brief and one trunk style available in a choice of two colours (black or black stripe), priced at $16.99 and $24.99 respectively.
Jockey Modal is available at Farmers and leading independent retailers nationwide.
