Corbans Viticulture Launches Total Vineyard Solutions
The quality of the wine you drink is not down to mere chance. Good vines, viticulture practices and a skilled winemaking team are aspects that influence quality, as experts in the industry, Corbans Viticulture, is well aware.
Consequently Corbans Viticulture (www.corbansviticulture.co.nz) is preparing to launch its consultancy business Total Vineyard Solutions, to assist landowners to establish and manage a vineyard.
Total Vineyard Solutions, which will offer services and products from Corbans Viticulture, includes four aspects; Technical Consultancy, Viticulture Consultancy, the Nursery and Diagnostic Consultancy.
The Technical Consultancy is based on the services offered by Frontier Global. It focuses on assisting landowners to choose the right site or sites, through to the design of a virtual vineyard to allow more precise and cost efficient vineyard establishment. This service links in with the Viticulture Consultancy team who will assist with the selection of rootstocks to best match the soil type. Financial budgets, irrigation scheduling and ongoing management advice are some of the additional services offered by the Viticulture Consultancy team.
The Nursery remains the core element of the Corbans Viticulture business. Diagnostic Consultancy is a plant pathology service and will enlist members of the Total Vineyard Solution team in addition to recognized experts in soil profiling, soil health, nutrient availability, vine nutrition and plant pathology fields to offer a range of services based on evidence rather than simplistic assumption or opinion.
"The decision to expand Corbans Viticulture into the area of consultancy is a natural progression. We have a lot of knowledge about selecting land, and growing grapevines that we can offer the industry," said Dennis Lunken, CEO of Corbans Viticulture. "This really is a ‘dirt to grape’ approach that uses a combination of clever technology and experienced people to help the industry to get the most out of their investment.”
Through offering these new services Corbans Viticulture will be able to provide knowledge and skills to the industry that will aid the continuing growth of the industry.
The company will be coordinating a nationwide seminar series, Vinovation’08, in Marlborough, Hawkes Bay and Auckland between the 1st and 3rd July 2008. Key international speakers include Dr Richard Hamilton, National Viticulturist for Fosters Group Limited and Gwyn Thomas, Business Growth Manager for WHK Gosling Chapman.
