Digital bootcamp sights up Kiwi recruits
Auckland, 17 June 2008 – New Zealand brand owners looking for an interactive workout should break a sweat at B’s online advertising bootcamp, at Auckland’s Hilton Hotel, Tuesday 5 August.
The one-day workshop, B’s one and only New Zealand stop, follows a four-city Australian tour and features a cast of local digital luminaries.
Bootcamp organiser Sean McKeown, national advertising manager for B, Digital Media and Professional Marketing, said Bootcamp is unique because it is strictly aimed at media buyers and marketing people. “Our goal is to see them walk away from a day’s training with a comprehensive understanding of digital media. We decided to bring the workshop back to New Zealand following the success of last year’s inaugural event, which attracted close to 100 people.”
Mike Walsh, author of Futuretainment, is hosting the event and will deliver the first segment, entitled: The Future of Digital Media. Other speakers include Marcus Hawkins-Adams, managing director, Brave New World; Deborah Davenport, commercial director, The Internet Bureau; Megan Clarken, managing director, Pacific, Nielsen Online; Andrew Beecher, director of sales & marketing, Ansearch limited; Craig Osborne, digital director, Starcom; and Tom Osbourne, commercial director, APN online.
McKeown said he convinced some of last year’s favourites to speak again this year, including Touchpoint cofounder and CTO Steve Shearman, who will lift the lid on mobile advertising integration.
Shearman says with the 107 percent penetration of mobile phones in New Zealand, the question isn’t whether eyeballs are there, but how best to leverage marketing expenditure in this channel.
His session will spotlight brands that have successfully integrated mobile with traditional campaigns and how that has improved customer interaction, sales and campaign ROI.
In the mid 90s Shearman founded web development company Webmasters and New Zealand’s first online media agency, Webmasters Network. In 2000 he co-founded Touchpoint, today New Zealand’s largest interactive marketing technology company.
Touchpoint delivers interactive marketing campaigns and communications across mobile, email and the Web. Touchpoint interactive platform facilitates dialogue between consumers and brands, enabling agencies and marketers to watch, understand and respond to their customers.
Touchpoint’s technology is widely used on both sides of the Tasman and is behind many high profile and award winning campaigns.
