Life Cycle Thinking series
The ‘Life Cycle Thinking’ series of workshops has been proposed by Locus Research and Unitec to provide a crucial bridge for the uptake of sustainable design and development within New Zealand.
The series moves beyond general discussion and into specific ideas, tools, methods, and approaches which will be described and engaged with to ensure that participants can apply these skills within their own organisations. Each workshop has a strong interactive learning component which is designed to apply and reinforce key learnings from each session.
The series is structured into accessible workshops on the following topics:

• Understanding the key tools and techniques for implementing life cycle thinking in product development.
• Learning the potential applications of the tools to understand where they are best used and how they are most effective.
• Observing the horizon and potential of different techniques to enable development targets for participants.
Starting in June, this series will be delivered initially as a series of three 1-day workshops at Unitec in Auckland, with content structured ‘progressively’ so the second and third workshops build on the previous workshops in more detail.
DINZ however will be introducing Session One: Life Cycle Thinking – A design mindset in both Wellington and Christchurch in June.
In addition, there is an accompanying series of articles published in the ‘Focus on Sustainability’ section of the April, June and August issues of Prodesign. The three articles introduce the workshop topics and are a primer to engage designers in life cycle thinking.
Costs per session $200 + GST
If you attend Session One in either Wellington or Christchurch and wish to attend Session Two and Three in Auckland, you will still be eligible for the discount as outlined in the pdf attachment.
