ONE News Continues Growth
ONE News at 6pm has recorded its seventh consecutive month of year-on-year growth in the core 25-54 audience, increasing
its viewership by 7,500 in this demographic, compared with May 2007.
The seven months of year-on-year growth is the longest period of sustained growth experienced by ONE News since 2000.
ONE News also grew its younger viewership last month; winning 16,900 new viewers in TV3's target 18-49 demographic,
compared with May 2007.
ONE News continues to lead 3 News in the 25-54 demographic. In May 2008, ONE News had an average 25-54 year old audience
of 216,000, a lead of 12,900 over TV3.
TVNZ Head of News and Current Affairs Anthony Flannery says the continuous growth is a tribute to the professionalism
and hard work of the ONE News team.
"A huge amount of effort has gone into improving every aspect of TVNZ's news service over the past year," Flannery said.
"The ONE News team works extremely hard to provide New Zealanders with the best possible news service, anytime and
anywhere.
"It is hugely rewarding to see Kiwis recognising the quality of our bulletins, and turning to ONE News in increasing
numbers."
ONE News at 6pm continues to be New Zealand's preferred bulletin. In May 2008, ONE News was watched by an average of
644,000 New Zealanders every night, 237,800 more than were watching 3 News in the same period. (average 5+ audience)
