Fairfax Magazine makes The Cut
Fairfax Magazines has purchased top-end golf magazine The Cut from Armada Publishing .
Fairfax Magazines general manager Lynley Belton said she was delighted to bringing a magazine of such high quality into
the Fairfax stable.
“The purchase of The Cut helps Fairfax Magazines expand our special interest titles and reach into yet another key
lifestyle area for many New Zealanders.
“With magazines such as Cuisine, Fishing News, NZ Gardener, NZ Autocar and Boating New Zealand , Fairfax Magazines has a
proud track record in publishing magazines around activities people are passionate about – and they are passionate about
golf.
“The Cut treats that passion with real respect, with quality journalists such as editor Heather Kidd and contributors
such as Brendan Telfer, Michael Hooper and Dave Moore providing intelligent, thought-provoking articles.”
Ms Belton said the existing staff of The Cut would transfer to Fairfax Magazines and would be based at its offices in
Penrose. Fairfax’s large and experienced publishing team would provide the levels of support a magazine such as The Cut
needed to take advantage of new opportunities and expand its reach.
Managing director of Armada Publishing Jim Boult said the sale to Fairfax Magazines was a great opportunity for The Cut.
“I’m delighted that The Cut has gone to a publisher with the passion of Fairfax. I am sure they will take further what
is clearly already New Zealand’s leading golf publication.
Our focus will now be on our successful trade publications, Autofile and DrinksBiz”.
