NZ LAW’s membership has further increased with two firms joining the group, it was announced today. The admission of Dunedin’s Downie Stewart and Lower Hutt lawyers, Gillespie Young Watson, bring the group’s membership to 56 firms
Chairman of NZ LAW Gary Simpson says, “We’re very pleased to welcome these two firms to the NZ LAW team. Downie Stewart will strengthen our representation in Dunedin, and we’re pleased to now have a member firm in the Hutt Valley. Having two highly regarded law firms join NZ LAW, will continue to strengthen the membership, and ultimately benefit the clients of member firms.”
Lower Hutt firm, Gillespie Young Watson, specialises in property, commercial and trust law. With six partners, one consultant, five staff solicitors and two legal executives, Gillespie Young Watson is one of the Hutt Valley’s largest law firms.

Downie Stewart is a long-established Dunedin firm. With a large general practice that has a particular focus on business, trust and property law Downie Stewart’s clients are advised by four partners, two consultants, two staff solicitors and three legal executives

NZ LAW Limited is an association of independent legal practices with member firms located throughout New Zealand. There are now 56 member firms practising in over 70 locations throughout New Zealand. It is one of the country’s largest law groups with more than 1,000 staff and partners.
NZ LAW member firms have agreed to co-operate with one another to develop a national working relationship. Membership enables firms to access one another’s skills, technology and ideas, whilst maintaining client confidentiality at all times.
