Fieldays Rural Bachelor finalists announced

New Zealand’s bachelor cream of the crop have been found and are getting ready to compete for the ‘Fieldays Rural
Bachelor of the Year®’ title at the Fieldays 2008, 11 - 14 June.
Bachelor finalists hail from Northland, Waikato (2), King Country, Hawkes Bay, Manawatu, Wellington and Canterbury, so
there will be an entrant for everyone to support. Major sponsor, Classic Hits, will introduce the Bachelors to their
regions leading up to Fieldays and put them through their paces on air with Classic Hits breakfast teams.
“It’s fantastic to see the good range of guys from around the country with all sorts of agricultural jobs that have
entered the competition this year,” says Gemma Antoniadis. “We look forward to showing off New Zealand’s very best Rural
Bachelors at an action-packed 40th anniversary Fieldays.”
The finalists are:
Mark Woodcock, a 35 year old Farm Manager from Northland
Lee Poolton, a 29 year old Excavator Driver from the Waikato
Robert Pollock, a 30 year old Dairy Farmer from the Waikato
Charlie Taituha, a 22 year old Technical Field Rep from the King Country
Patrick Bellerby, a 25 year old Dairy Sales Specialist from the Hawkes Bay
Peter Schreurs, a 26 year old Agricultural Research Technician from the Manawatu
Lee Matthews, a 35 year old Stock Manager from Wellington
Mark Dillon, a 20 year old Sheppard from Canterbury
The bachelors will battle it out for the prestigious ‘Golden Gumboot’ trophy and their share of over $30,000 worth of
prizes while experiencing an unforgettable week of celebrity status. They will be hosted in the ‘secret bachelor pad’
for the week of Fieldays with all expenses paid.
2007 Fieldays Rural Bachelor of the Year, Paul Slater, will return to the competition in 2008, this time as a judge.
Slater will be able to tell the finalists some of the fun that’s in store and will hand over the title and Golden
Gumboot trophy at Fieldays on Saturday at 1pm, along with a swag of prizes including $5,000 cash and a trip for two to
the Cook Islands.
Fieldays visitors can look forward to seeing the Bachelors in action at the following times:
