Transfield Services Secures Major Wellington Roading Contract
Transfield Services New Zealand has secured a Wellington City Council contract to provide a full range of road services including paving, surfacing, road marking, street furniture and footpaths.
The three-year contract, which has a two year right of renewal, has a five year value of approximately NZ$40 million. It is an important win for the New Zealand business and provides Transfield Services with significant growth in the local authority urban roading maintenance market.
Transfield Services currently has several local body rural roading maintenance contracts for the Far North, Whangarei, Kaipara, Franklin and Thames Coromandel Councils, and had been looking to expand into the urban market.
“This new contract is strategically important to us as a business as it provides a solid foundation for more local body urban roading work throughout New Zealand,” says Transfield Services’ Infrastructure Executive General Manager, Mark Hopwood.
He also commented that three of the company’s recent roading business acquisitions were key contributors to the win, with their added resource base, technical capability and local relationships complementing Transfield Services’ existing experience in long-term roading maintenance contracts.
