Green Tick™ Ecolabel Already Meets Coming EU Requirements for Food Labelling
Green Tick™ is the only independent sustainability ecolabel that already meets the coming European Union (EU) requirements for food to be labeled according to its environmental impact and carbon footprint.
“We saw this coming when we originally designed Green Tick™ four years ago”, said Susan Harris, Principal Sustainability Scientist for Green Tick Certification Limited.
“The ‘Green Tick Sustainable™’ and ‘Green Tick Climate-Friendly™’ labels cover the environmental impact and carbon footprints of food, and so food manufacturers that have either of these labels will be ideally positioned when these new requirements become compulsory in the EU.”
“Food manufacturers in Europe and South Africa are already conducting feasibility studies on the use of Green Tick™ for their food labeling”, said Mrs Harris, “and with an average 6-12 month lead time needed to get Green Tick™ certification, food producers would be well advised to start now along the track to use this world-first Kiwi invention to help them meet the new EU requirements.”
“And as our clients have said, there is nothing like a big fat obvious Green Tick™ on the front of the package to show customers that your products are truly sustainable.”
