Central Otago’s Wild Earth Wines Takes Trophy in World’s Largest Wine Show
Wild Earth Wines, a young Central Otago winemaker, has just been awarded the Trophy for Top New Zealand Pinot Noir at the Decanter World Wine Awards in London. This competition is the world’s largest with over 9,000 entries and is regarded as the toughest wine judging event globally.
In addition to the Trophy award, the Wild Earth Pinot Noir 2006 was awarded two Gold Medals, one at the Decanter competition and the other in the concurrent International Wine Challenge 2008, also judged in the United Kingdom.
Wild Earth Pinot Noir has previously been awarded Gold Medals in New Zealand, Australia and the USA, but this new set of accolades reconfirms the impressive standard set by this new winegrower.
The owners of Wild Earth, Quintin and Avril Quider, expressed their delight at the trophy and gold medals, “The United Kingdom is the world’s most competitive wine market and the Decanter wine show the largest in the world, so this is a very important award, not just for Wild Earth, but for Central Otago wines.”
Wild Earth is available throughout New Zealand, Australia and around the world in top restaurants and fine wine stores.
Wild Earth Wines is a family owned winemaker, located at the very end of Felton Road in Bannockburn, Central Otago. Established in 1998, it has produced wines under the Wild Earth label for only five vintages. Its wines are entirely estate grown, available throughout New Zealand and now exported to international markets including the United States, Australia, United Kingdom, Europe, China, and Canada.
