Poutama Business Trust and New Zealand School of Export work together to boost Mâori Exporters
The Poutama Business Trust and New Zealand School of Export are co-operating in a venture to boost Mâori exports. The
Poutama Business Trust, which has worked for over twenty years to facilitate growth for Mâori entrepreneurs and
businesses, now includes New Zealand’s only internationally accredited Diploma of International Trade in its list of
training courses eligible for financial assistance from the Trust.
Mâori business people seeking the knowledge and skills to grow their business through exporting, may now be eligible for
part-funding from the Trust to meet the cost of the country’s only specialist professional qualification in exporting.
Designed by exporters for exporters, the Diploma is a highly practical course delivered through distance learning and
accredited by the International Association of Trade Training Organisations. Those who successfully complete the Diploma
of International Trade are then eligible to apply for Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) status – the
designation recognised by the World Trade Center Association as the standard of excellence for global business
professionals.
Both the Poutama Business Trust and the New Zealand School of Export hope this collaboration will encourage more Mâori
entrepreneurs and businesses to join the growing group of New Zealanders already studying for this qualification, giving
a substantial boost to the country’s exports.
