Mercer grows NZ investment team
Mercer has bolstered its investment team in New Zealand with the appointment of two new senior consultants.
Russell Garrett will take on a business development and client management role. He brings a wealth of experience having
worked in financial services for over 17 years in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
He joins Mercer from ASB Group where he worked for seven years in a variety of investment roles, including institutional
funds management with Colonial First State. He has also worked as a corporate trustee and has experience with a wide
variety of financial and investment structures.
Mercer has also appointed Garth Gregory to lead Mercer’s research analyst team.
Mr Gregory has over 11 years financial management experience in both the private and public sectors. Prior to joining
Mercer, Mr Gregory was employed as a corporate accountant with AMP Capital Investors and spent three years as a fund
accountant with Jacques Martin.
Martin Lewington, head of Mercer’s investment business in New Zealand said he was pleased to welcome investment
professionals of this calibre to Mercer’s team.
“Following a bumper year in 2007 where tax changes and the introduction of KiwiSaver fuelled a leap in demand for
investment consulting services, we’ve observed that the investment industry in New Zealand continues to flourish. As a
result, demand is continuing to increase and we’ve responded by appointing two more exceptionally skilled and
experienced consultants to help us continue to meet the needs of our clients,” he said.
