ANZA boosts services to members with new appointment
Auckland, 14 May 2008 – The Association of New Zealand Advertisers (ANZA) has appointed Vanessa Roud to the newly
created position of Events and Member Services Manager.
ANZA Executive Director Jeremy Irwin says the Association now runs a large number of events for its members each year,
including workshops, industry briefings, training courses, international speaker tours and social functions,
necessitating Ms Roud’s appointment.
He says, “We’ve seen an upsurge in members’ requests for senior executive training and opportunities to improve
knowledge and understanding of consumers and further enhance relationships with agency and media partners – and this has
reinforced the strategic direction of ANZA.”
Ms Roud brings a wealth of events management experience to the new role. She was previously with Flight Centre New
Zealand for many years, most recently holding the position of National Business Solutions Leader and prior to that, Area
Manager, where she was responsible for the performance of up to 26 Flight Centre stores and arranged many national and
international events. She also spent four years in Toronto, Canada, helping to set up Flight Centre’s Eastern Canada
division.
She says, “The current climate is proving to be a challenging time for the advertising industry, which is why ANZA is
providing even more services to our members. I’m excited to be on board and look forward to meeting all of our members
over the coming weeks.”
About ANZA:
ANZA provides a collective voice in dealing with government, media, advertising agencies and other organisations
integral to the advertising industry. Members represent the top 100 advertisers within New Zealand and the majority of
national brand advertising.
ANZA’s mission is to promote and advocate for an industry environment of free and legitimate commercial communication
guided by industry self-regulation. ANZA has led the promotion of self-regulation and runs the LAPS (Liquor Advertising
Pre-vetting System) and TAPS (Therapeutics Advertising Pre-vetting System), ensuring that advertising meets the industry
codes of practice well before reaching New Zealanders.
Members from all major national brands are represented within ANZA and the governing Council works hard to ensure
members have a high level of understanding of issues and access to useful resources and information. The recent
Strategic Management Workshop, conducted for ANZA members, was a huge success and reflects the thought leadership
position that ANZA is known for.
