Popular Akaroa Waterfront Motels for sale
12 May 2008: Akaroa Waterfront Motels, two popular and immaculately presented motels on a prime waterfront site in the
popular South Island town, are for sale as a going concern with a price tag of $1.3 million plus GST (if any).
The only motels on the water's edge in the popular Banks Peninsula destination near Christchurch, Akaroa Waterfront
Motels consist of two two-storeyed motels - Driftwood and Wai-iti - both located at 56 - 64 Rue Jolie, Akaroa but
separated by a small stream.
Being marketed by Harcourts Christchurch City Commercial Sales Consultant Bruce Page the .39 hectare harbourside
property offers a total of 24 units and a sizeable house and garage for the owner/manager - all in a park-like setting
within walking distance of Akaroa's attractions.
Driftwood, which is located right on the water's edge, has 12 ground floor and first floor units that sleep one to four
people and all have stunning water views. Wai-iti, which is set at a right angle to the waters edge, boasts 12 units
which range from one to three bedrooms each, with the upstairs units all offering spectacular water views. Meanwhile the
owner/managers house is a three-four bedroom home with two bathrooms, an office and lots of storage.
In addition the motel grounds include a private jetty, a large off-street car park (with room for 24 vehicles), plus
space to keep boat trailers. There is also a well-equipped laundry, a private spa in a tropical setting and portable gas
barbecues, along with boats and kayaks for hire.
Mr Page says that given the motels location, immaculate presentation and track record of success he is confident they
will attract considerable interest.
"The motels are on arguably one of the best sites in Akaroa. What's more they're in great condition and are reportedly
turning a good profit too - so they present an opportunity not to be missed."
A popular choice for both tourists and locals, the motels cater to families, couples and independent travellers alike
and enjoy a lot of return visitors, particularly from Christchurch, Mr Page says.
"Constructed of low maintenance materials, the whole complex was repainted in January 2007. Last year the owners, who
currently run the business with assistance from a number of a number of casual staff, also totally refurbished eight
units, as part of their ongoing maintenance plan."
