Contractors welcome National’s commitment to infrastructure spend
The New Zealand Contractors’ Federation has welcomed the National Party’s commitment to infrastructure investment
Leader John Key told the party’s Southern Regional Conference that a National government would invest in infrastructure
to promote productivity and growth.
NZCF Chief Executive Richard Michael said: “It is good to see that National has outlined its commitment to
infrastructure.
“This is crucial for New Zealand if we are to increase our productivity – and for us to make our way up OECD rankings
then productivity has to improve.”
Mr Key told the conference that a nationwide infrastructure deficit has severely constrained economic productivity and
growth. He said National would use public-private partnerships to repair a deficit in areas such as transport and
communications - including up to $1.5 billion to accelerate the roll out of ultra-fast fibre.
