Trade Me Closes Gap On Seek Launches New Look Site
Trade Me is set to further close the gap on job website Seek, as it launches the latest version of Trade Me Jobs today.
Over the last 12 months Trade Me Jobs has almost doubled its listings from 6210 jobs in April 07 to 11,077 in April 08
1. Over the same period Seek listings increased 5% from 20,746 to 21,725.
``The last 18 months has seen a fierce battle between us and Seek, the historical incumbent,’’ said head of Trade Me
Jobs, Jimmy McGee.
As well as almost doubling its listings over the last year, Trade Me Jobs has also closed the traffic gap from around
120,000 domestic unique browsers a month to less than 75,000 2, a unique feat in the Australasian marketplace. Unique
browsers is the industry accepted unit of internet traffic measurement.
``Our new look site launches today with improved salary search functions and new features for the part-time and contract
market. The new features along with strong buy-in from the local employers and recruiters, is expected to further
accelerate Trade Me Jobs growth.’’
Trade Me Jobs continues to be the only kiwi website which allows job-seekers to search by salary across all job
listings, an important feature in an increasingly tight labour market.
From a zero base, Trade Me Jobs now has thousands of employers using its service as well as over 300 recruitment
agencies and advertisers.
Last week Trade Me Job clients were joined by Beyond, one of New Zealand’s largest recruitment companies who will bring
an additional 500 roles to the site.
``We’ve watched Trade Me Jobs grow from a young upstart to a strong performer, so decided the time was right to make it
work for our clients,’’ said Ben Pearson, director of Beyond Recruitment.
When Trade Me Jobs traffic officially overtakes Seek, it will join Trade Me Motors and Trade Me Property in leading its
respective sector of the online market in New Zealand. Both the other sites also overtook strong incumbents to take out
their #1 positions.
