Westpac Has No Plans To Send Jobs Offshore

Published: Fri 2 May 2008 10:44 AM
Westpac New Zealand spokesman Craig Dowling says a simple call from FINSEC would have been able to confirm that the bank has no plans on the table to send New Zealand jobs offshore.
In fact Westpac is currently looking to recruit over 150 new staff primarily for customer related roles in New Zealand, Mr Dowling said.
"Westpac New Zealand has just announced results which show the benefit of a strong customer and staff focus and that is where attention will continute to be directed in this market.
"We are investing further in our people with training plans in place, our move next year to new premises in downtown Auckland and upgrades to our facilities in both Christchurch and Wellington.
"These are significant investments in our people.
"A courtesy call might have clarified that without it having to be addressed through the media."
