Telecom announces supplier partnership with Brightstar Corp
In the lead up to the launch of its new mobile network in November Telecom New Zealand announced today an agreement with Brightstar Corp. to deliver Telecom’s mobile devices, supply chain services and improved business intelligence.
Brightstar Corp., headquartered in Miami, is one of the largest wireless device distribution, logistics and supply chain solutions companies globally.
In addition to preparing for the launch of its new mobile network later this year, this agreement reflects Telecom’s desire to enhance its supply chain to maximise choice, access and speed in bringing new products to customers.
Brightstar’s global experience and scale put them in the best position to help us meet this need said Telecom GM of Mobile, Martin Butler.
“Given the number of new technology projects on the go at Telecom we have been looking at the best ways we can source and deliver wireless devices such as mobiles for our customers. With this in mind we have aimed to achieve a first class solution for our business and our customers,” said Mr Butler.
Brightstar will now be Telecom’s partner of choice for supply chain services. The new relationship will be phased in over the next six months and is expected to be up and running prior to the new network launch in November.
Marcelo Claure, Brightstar Chairman, CEO and President said innovation and competitive intensity in the mobile phone industry continued to accelerate at levels unheard of in most industries.
“The speed of the industry requires innovative solutions with world class results. We are committed to dramatically improving the mobile device supply chain for Telecom via the implementation of our supply chain solutions,” said R. Marcelo Claure, president, CEO & Chairman of Brightstar. “We look forward to helping them reduce costs, improve business intelligence and ultimately, ensure they continue to deliver exceptional service to their customers.”
Initially the five year agreement will involve supply of mobile phones as well as services like warehouse operations, product lifecycle management, detailed reporting and stock management.
