MySpace a Hitwise No.1 Online Performance Award winner!
[AUCKLAND, Thursday 17th April 2008] MySpace.com has been announced as the No.1 website in the Social Networking and Forums category for 2007, in the latest Hitwise Online Performance program. The annual Hitwise Performance Awards recognise excellence in online performance through public popularity.
Results are based on the market share of New Zealand internet visits during 2007.  Based on the Internet usage of approximately 460,000 New Zealand Internet users, visiting over 43,000 New Zealand websites throughout 2007, the Hitwise Online Performance Awards are true indication of public popularity.
Michael Walmsely, Hitwise Manager of Competitive Intelligence and Search Marketing Services said, “With the dynamics of online marketing continually evolving, the online success of MySpace.com during 2007 is an incredible achievement. Receiving a Hitwise Online Performance Award acknowledges that MySpace.com is amongst the most popular websites visited by New Zealand Internet users, signifying the strength of their online marketing”.
Rebekah Horne, Vice President MySpace NZ & Australia said, “MySpace has been localised in New Zealand for just over a year and this industry acknowledgement underlines that our broader commitment to MySpace users is working…from exciting global initiatives, including the recent announcement of the new MySpace Music platform to our on-ground presence in New Zealand - where Kiwi MySpace users are treated to truly local content as well as well as a host of free and exclusive offline events across the country.”
