New Consultations Website Launched
A new on-line consultations website portal has been launched, believed to be the first of its kind for New Zealand. The
public consultations website (www.publicconsultations.co.nz ) provides one-stop-access to all New Zealand publicly
advertised consultations which are open for submissions. While most, but not all, organisations have current
consultations listed on their individual websites, www.publicconsultations.co.nz is different as it collates all
consultations together on the one single portal.
The website provides free access to basic consultation information such as submission closing dates, and features a
powerful search engine. Advanced features available by subscription, include email alerts which automatically email
subscribers when a new consultation is publicly advertised for submissions.
The website covers all 86 local authority councils in New Zealand and 130 Government ministries, departments and
organisations in one single portal. Consultations monitored include all publicly notified resource consents, draft
plans, strategies, policies and new bills. Consultations are monitored regularly, with new consultations updated daily.
New Zealand's most comprehensive database of consultations coupled with a powerful search engine is anticipated to
reduce business costs of monitoring consultation information, and to make consultations more accessible.
This site will directly benefit a range of businesses and professions interested in monitoring consultations or making
submissions, as well as industry sectors such as building, construction and retail. The free access features are
expected to be popular with community organisations and members of the public.
The site was officially launched at the 2008 New Zealand Planning Institute Conference in Shantytown on April 3, with
Public Consultations (NZ) Ltd sponsoring the conference.
