Opportunity to meet top tourism operators
9 April 2008
Applications are open for a special opportunity to meet more than 300 of New Zealand’s top tourism operators.
The Tourism Industry Association (TIA) is inviting individuals involved in the tourism industry to take part in the Industry Showcase on Monday 26 May, 3pm-5pm, at the Energy Events Centre, Rotorua. This event is part of TRENZ 2008 – New Zealand’s biggest annual tourism business showcase – taking place 26-29 May.
Industry Showcase offers a great opportunity for people in the tourism industry but not taking part in TRENZ 2008 to meet representatives of the more than 300 New Zealand tourism businesses taking part, and learn more about New Zealand’s single largest export sector. It also offers students a chance to see the range of careers that are available to them in the tourism sector.
Exhibitors this year include more than 70 operators who are offering brand new products to the hundreds of international travel and tourism Buyers who come to TRENZ to purchase accommodation, transport, attractions and activities at wholesale rates, and include them in holiday brochures, websites and itineraries for forthcoming seasons.
New products at TRENZ include experiences showcasing New Zealand’s culture, history and Maori heritage, boutique and hotel accommodation, and adrenalin filled adventure activities.
TRENZ 2008 will also clearly demonstrate the tourism industry’s commitment to environmental sustainability, TIA Chief Executive Fiona Luhrs says.
“A key principle of the New Zealand Tourism Strategy 2015 www.nztourismstrategy.com is that the tourism sector will protect and enhance our environment. I am impressed with the number of tourism
operators taking part in TRENZ who are placing environmental sustainability at the heart of their businesses,” she says.
TRENZ itself will be a carbon neutral event for the second year in a row.
Tourism businesses taking part in TRENZ 2008 have each been offered one complimentary Industry Showcase application. Students will be admitted free of charge but an entrance fee of $25+GST has been introduced this year for other attendees.
