Goughs announces two board appointments
New Zealand Caterpillar dealer, Goughs, has announced the Gough family has renewed its presence on the company’s Board of Directors with the recent appointments of Ben Gough and Alex McKinnon as Directors.
The appointments restore direct family involvement in governorship of the company for the first time in over 20 years and represent the fourth generation of the Gough family to be associated with the Christchurch-based business, established in 1929.
Ben Gough is the grandson of Tracy T Gough who co-founded Gough, Gough & Hamer Ltd. Ben is the managing director of Tailorspace Investments Limited, a company specialising in commercial property investment, development and management. He is also a director of Foodcap International Limited and serves as a Trustee on the Halberg Trust.
Alex McKinnon is the great-grandson of Tracy T Gough and is part of the fourth generation of the Gough family to be involved with the company. He has been educated in New Zealand, America, England and China and works as an investment manager for Mahon China Investment Management, a Beijing-based merchant bank and corporate advisory company.
The two appointments coincide with Goughs celebrating 75 years of being the Caterpillar dealer in New Zealand, making the company one of the oldest Cat dealers in the world.
On behalf of both new directors and the Gough family, Ben Gough says, “The appointments ensued from a company decision to ensure that the “family” values, embraced by Goughs since its inception, remain to the fore as the dealership looks to the future and its 100 year milestone. From the Gough family’s perspective, it’s great to again have direct involvement and follow in the footsteps of Tracy T Gough all those years ago.”
Goughs is the largest subsidiary of The Gough Group, which comprises three distinct divisions. These are; the Equipment Group which includes Goughs, The Cat Rental Store and Goughs Engineering; the Transport Group which comprises Transpecs, TWL, Palfinger NZ, Goughs Forklifts and Gough Transport Solutions; and Gough Finance and Insurance.
