Two Pivotal Appointments Show Growth At Saint Clair
Reflective of the growth and expansion of this family winery, the announcement of two appointments at Saint Clair Family
Estate should come as no surprise – and nor should the calibre of the people!
Liam McElhinney has been appointed as White Winemaker – an enormous role when you consider the awards history of its’
renowned Sauvignon Blanc and recent accolade as one of New Zealand’s finest producer of this varietal. Liam is born and
raised in Marlborough and has arrived from working as Co- winemaker at multi-award-winning Hawke’s Bay winery, Trinity
Hill. Prior to that he began his career as Assistant winemaker at Bilancia, also in Hawke’s Bay. He also has
international winemaking experience in California, Rhone Valley, Alsace and Burgundy.
Renowned viticulturist, Malcolm Adams, has also joined Saint Clair. Malcolm has been in the grape industry since 1987
managing acres for clients as well as owning vineyards for which he contract grows for four local wineries, including
Saint Clair.
Malcolm has a true passion for producing quality grapes and his aim in this new role is to empower Saint Clair growers
to be able to strive for the highest quality within their own vineyards.
Neal Ibbotson, Managing Director of Saint Clair Family Estate comments, “We are delighted to announce the appointment of
these two outstanding individuals. To attract such high calibre people is reflective of the achievements we have made as
a winery since we opened for business in 1994 and we are thrilled to have them on board. We look forward to reaping the
rewards their respective knowledge will bring to our wines – no pressure!”
