GROWNUPS Over-50s Website Says Thanks
The enthusiastic response of 50-plus New Zealanders to the online lifestyle magazine www.grownups.co.nz has its founders
celebrating – but instead of taking a splashy holiday to congratulate themselves, they’re offering the reward to their
members, offering new and existing www.grownups.co.nz members the chance to win a cruise for two to Fiji.
Director Richard Poole said the positive and helpful feedback from members and visitors since New Zealand’s only website
exclusively for over-50s launched in 2006 had played a big part in its success, and it was time to say thanks. “The
growth has been significant – we are now consistently getting close to 50,000 unique visitors each month, and the
current member base is approaching 20,000.
“The latest Nielsen NetRatings show the site is number two in New Zealand for the average time spent viewing per page,
which shows that people are finding us good reading!
“This prize is a great way for us to reward our members and encourage others to sign up.”
Entries for the Fiji cruise, which is valued at $7,500, are open to all existing members, who can enter by submitting a
travel story or encouraging a friend to register. All new members who sign up before 26th April 2008 will also go in the

up-to-the-minute news section. A recent two-month nationwide amateur photography competition received a record 5,000
votes and unearthed shutterbug talent in every New Zealand region.
The ever-evolving site’s newest features include a Find a Friend section where members can find like minded people to
chat online in a safe and trusted environment. The growth of this section has been exponential, with close to 12,000
views in the last month alone. Following the success of Find a Friend, the first (and offline) mix n mingle evening has
just been held.
The first GrownUps mix n mingle cruise is also scheduled for 31st July.
The site also offers special deals on travel and accommodation exclusively to www.grownups.co.nz users, through one of
the largest online accommodation booking agents.
