101 Must do Weekends
31 March 2008
“We are delighted with the AA’s continued commitment to domestic Tourism with their announcement of “101 Must do Weekends”” said Michael Baines Chief Executive of the Motel Association of New Zealand.
The infrastructure that provides opportunities to our overseas visitors is based on our fellow New Zealanders exploring their own country. We can provide the accommodation, events and activities because of the support of Kiwis!
AA’s promotion and support of the local tourism industry has been long term and greatly appreciated. They have always seen the value in the domestic market and this continues that work.
Pete Blackwell and his team are to be congratulated; they began the 101 programme in the face of a high level of cynicism from a wide range of organisations. They have stuck to their guns and show comprehensively that domestic promotions do work and that New Zealanders were only waiting to be reminded of what a great place they live in.
The moteliers salute AA and we believe that all New Zealanders do too for this initiative!
