Switch energy solutions showroom opens in Blenheim Road Christchurch
Switch, Solid Energy’s one-stop shop for heating with an emphasis on renewable energy, opens its first showroom this weekend on the corner of Blenheim Road and Watts Road in Christchurch.
The business was established in 2007 to supply equipment, provide advice and design integrated heating systems for homes, businesses, schools and other public buildings. Switch has an emphasis on renewable energy, with the exclusive New Zealand agency for Apricus solar hot water heating, a variety of European central heating boilers which run on wood pellets, specialist hot water cylinders and control systems which ensure connected systems operate as efficiently as possible.
Andy Matheson, Solid Energy’s General Manager Renewable Energy, says the Switch showroom allows people to see and feel the output from a range of technologically proven renewable energy sources and discuss how they can work together. Switch sister company Nature’s Flame has a retail store alongside the new Switch showroom, allowing customers easy access to supplies of wood pellet fuel.
“Whether it’s clean-burning wood pellet fires, pellet central heating systems, solar water heating or other solutions, Switch can audit the heating, lighting and insulation in a home or workplace and show the gains that can be made from renewables,” he says. “Switch systems ensure you get the best from each element.
“Switch can supply one single electronic control that automatically swaps between energy sources, depending on the need at the time. It’s very economical and it’s good for the environment. With the cost of electricity and gas continuing to rise, it’s becoming increasingly important for home and business owners to find other affordable ways to heat water and keep warm in winter,” Andy Matheson says.
Switch’s clean-burning wood pellet fires meet all clean air standards. In Canterbury, home heating is a major source of winter-time air pollution – not only in Christchurch, but also in Rangiora, Kaiapoi, Ashburton and Timaru. All Switch’s solutions and systems have undergone rigorous testing and represent leading edge technology. Switch also keeps up with new developments overseas, evaluating new products and systems to make sure they work in New Zealand conditions before introducing them to the concept store.
