Lion Nathan takes over distribution of James Boag’s Premium Lager from 1 March 2008
Lion Nathan are pleased to announce that as of 1 March, 2008 Lion Nathan New Zealand are now the local distributor for J. Boag & Son, changing from Vintage Wines & Spirits. This acquisition means the addition of the highly acclaimed James Boag’s Premium Lager to the Lion Nathan beer portfolio.
“We’re very excited to have the addition of James Boag’s Premium Lager to our extensive premium beer portfolio,” says Stephen Smith, Lion Nathan Beer Marketing Director. “The acquisition plays a key role in Lion Nathan’s trans-Tasman growth strategy, and we have no doubt that James Boag’s Premium Lager will be just as popular on our side of the ditch”.
Lion Nathan purchased Tasmanian brewer, J. Boag & Son from Philippines based San Miguel Corporation in December 2007. Currently James Boag’s Premium Lager  is the only brew from the J. Boag & Son range available in New Zealand.
Brewed in Tasmania, Australia from the finest quality pilsener malts, James Boag's Premium Lager is a European style beer fermented at a lower temperature than most Australian lagers and employing an extended maturation period. These techniques, combined with a mixture of kettle and late hopping, yield a crisp pale lager that perfectly complements fine food.
James Boag’s Premium Lager is highly awarded taking a Crystal Prestige Award and a Gold Medal at the 2007 International Monde Selection, and an International High Quality Trophy and Gold Medal at the 2006 International Monde Selection.
The brewery of J. Boag & Son was established in Tasmania in 1883 and since then has developed a reputation for premium craft brewing. In Australia, J. Boag & Son brands represent around 7 per cent of the high growth premium beer segment.
James Boag’s Premium lager is available in NZ at Liquor King and other liquor retailers nationwide. James Boag’s Premium Lager has an ABV of 5% and a RRP of $13.99 per 6-pack.
