New GM Appointments for Accor NZ and Fiji Hotels

New General Manager Appointments for Accor New Zealand and Fiji Hotels
Accor Asia Pacific is pleased to announce three new General Manager appointments in New Zealand and Fiji.
Simon Harper has been appointed General Manager, Grand Mercure Puka Park Resort. Simon has more than ten years experience in the hospitality industry in both Australia and New Zealand. He joins Accor from the Haast World Heritage Hotel in New Zealand’s South Island, where he has been Hotel Manager since mid-2006.
In Fiji, Brian Townsend has been appointed General Manager, Tradewinds Hotel &
Convention Centre in Suva. Accor is to take over management of this hotel in March. Brian commenced his career with Accor in 1996 working at Novotel Twin Waters Resort in Queensland. Since that time, Brian has held various senior management positions with Accor hotels throughout New Zealand and Australia, including his most recent position as General Manager, Novotel Palmerston North.
Rhys Challenger has been promoted to General Manager, The Resort, Walu Beach, on Malolo Island in the Mamanuca group of Islands, which will later be rebranded as Mercure Resort Malolo Island following an extensive refurbishment and expansion that is due to be completed by December. The appointment comes into effect from 28 February, the same date this hotel joins the Accor network.
Rhys has been with Accor for almost 12 years, beginning with the hotel now known as Sofitel Gold Coast. This was followed by a variety of roles throughout Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, including a position as Hotel Manager at Mercure Hotel Nadi and most recently Executive Assistant Manager, Novotel Nadi overseeing the refurbishment and rebrand of the hotel from Mocambo Hotel Nadi.
