ABC Aligns With Readership Research
The latest ABC magazine results for the period July – December 2007 were released on the public site at www.abc.org.nz on 15 February, and the industry release for this is attached.
In the meantime the ABC organisation has been conducting a review of its rules. The newspaper rules have changed to reflect new reporting dates. The next release of newspaper news audits is June 2008.
Chris Jagusch, chair of the Audit Bureau of Circulations says “the auditing of print media circulations adds considerably to the readership research the industry conducts. By releasing newspaper circulation audits in June and December this will better align with the release of magazine figures, and also with the survey periods of Nielsen readership research.”
Audits of newspaper circulations will now also identify sales of digital editions of newspapers, recognising the way in which many newspaper readers make use of this technology.
Mr Jagusch advises that both the magazine and newspaper subcommittees of ABC are continuing a process of reviewing the ABC rules to make its reports of even more value to advertisers. “We see audited circulation of print media as a key point of difference, and this industry sector strives to ensure its reports are credible, relevant and useful.”
