NEWS RELEASE 17 February 08
Life-Style Farmers Field Day on Again
Plans are already underway for the premier event for lifestyle farmers in the lower half of the north island.
The Lifestyle Farmers Field Day at Otaki will be held at the Otaki racecourse on Saturday 24 May between 9am and 4pm.
This is the 17h year that the event has been staged and organizer Peter Burke says already he’s had applications for
sites for the event.
The field day attracts about 100 exhibitors and about 5000 people from the north island and Peter Burke says each year
the event continues to grow.” Last year it was our best year for exhibitors and the indications are for a similar
response in 2008. More lifestyle blocks are being opened up in the region with people seeking a lifestyle in the
country. An event such as this enables them to look at, and compare new and competing products”.
“We get a whole range of products and services on show. For example there will be many cattle and sheep breeds,
including miniature cattle. There will be tractors and ride-on mowers of all shapes and sizes, nurseries turn out in
force, as do those who construct farm buildings. There will also be information available in the form of technical farm
books and farm supply companies that provide goods and services to lifestyle farmers”, says Peter Burke.
One of the features of the day is the display by Greater Wellington regional Council on how to control noxious plants
and pests such as the possum.
Site prices for the Field Day start at $65 for a small half site and go up to $230 for a very large double site.
Bookings can be made by contacting Peter Burke on 021 224 2184 or peterb@levin.pl.net. There is also information on the
web site www.lifestylefarmers.co.nz
Admission to the field day is $5 for adults with children free.
The Field Day is supported by the Greater Wellington Regional Council
