$5 million dollar line charge holiday
Northpower consumers are set to receive something back from their local lines company.
Northpower will provide all consumers connected to its network with a line charge holiday, which this year totals $5
million.
The line charge holiday will appear in the form of a credit on consumers March power accounts regardless of their
electricity retailer. The credit will be distributed to all consumers connected to Northpower’s lines as at midnight
12th February 2008.
Northpower network consumers who use between 2,000 - 15,000 units per year will receive a $95 credit. Small users (less
than 2000 units) will receive $35 and the large users (greater than 15000 units) will receive $145.
Northpower Chairman Warren Moyes is pleased to be able to pass on this contribution to Northpower consumers.
“Consumers will save a total of $5 million on line charges. This amount is what the company would have expected to
receive for maintaining and operating the lines, transformers, and poles for just under two months,” Mr Moyes said.
“Over the past 10 years we have transitioned from a local lines company which employed 150 people, to a successful asset
manager and the largest electricity distribution contractor in the country with over 800 employees. As a Northland owned
company our growth and expansion provides direct benefits back into the local economy through career opportunities,
sponsorships, trust distributions and line charge holidays,” he said.
