Burleigh Brands and Staff Join Vintage Wines and Spirits
Vintage Moving to New Premises
Vintage has purchased the brand agency portfolio and operational assets (but not the company name) of Burleigh Trading,
one of the great suppliers and service enterprises of the New Zealand liquor and hospitality industries.
An extended portfolio of strong brands with new offices and warehouse and a bigger sales and marketing team are major
developments for both Vintage Wines & Spirits and Burleigh Trading. Business will continue as before with a better service, bigger brand offering and a
renewed impetus.
After a successful executive career in New Zealand and Australia, Grahame Elley utilised his management experience and
interest in wine in founding Burleigh Trading over twenty five years ago.
Returning to New Zealand he fast developed the company into a major player in wine, beer and spirits marketing,
introducing many big-selling international brands while also fostering the sales and promotion of New Zealand wines. Age
and health limitations have now necessitated his retirement.
We are delighted that the brands distributed until now by Burleigh will become part of the Vintage Wines & Spirits portfolio from 3rd March. A few adustments will be made to avoid clashes with existing brands.
All Vintage and Burleigh staff will continue working for the expanded Vintage Wines & Spirits. We are currently working on an integration programme to maximise the benefits to us as a company, and to the
trade, of these invaluable human resources.
The existing field force will be strengthened and accelerated, delivering an improved service to both on-premise and
off-premise customers.
From 3rd March Vintage Wines & Spirits will be based at the former Burleigh premises in Northcote Road, Takapuna – close to the Northern Motorway and
easily accessible from anywhere in greater Auckland.
This will facilitate delivery to the trade throughout Auckland and further afield, allowing us to offer the just-in-time
flexibility so many customers are keen to have, especially in the on-premise channel.
Vintage Wines & Spirits is headed by Nick Hern who is the major shareholder and Paul Donaghy will be the General Sales Manager.
The complete brand portfolio will be advised by the end of February.
