PRESS RELEASE:
Spamdunk Steps Up Efforts To Support 'Small Guy' Spam
Deluge of extra spam prompts the provision of innovative service from SPAM innovators
Auckland, Monday, 11 February, 2008: "It's as if we have been cut adrift and left to our own devices," is how one email account holder describes the situation he and thousands of others find themselves in following the shift of Telecom's Xtra accounts to Australian based Xtra Yahoo.
Inexplicably, for some account holders the amount of spam now appearing in their inboxes has doubled or tripled over the past few months and seems to be getting worse.
"What started out as a few enquiries for help quickly became hundreds and we decided we needed to act swiftly to support that need," says Todd Hammington, Sales Manager for SPAMDUNK.
The challenge facing SPAMDUNK was that its famous offsite filtering solution (no software download) only worked for businesses that had their own servers (i.e. their own domain name) and could not operate if users were still deploying the names of ISP's (i.e. a POP or IMAP account)
"We were determined to find a solution that, like our core SPAMDUNK product, didn't require the end user to download and install yet more software and then be constantly hassled to download upgrades to keep the system blocking new spam attacks," adds Hammington.
As is often the case, after searching unsuccessfully throughout the world for a solution, SPAMDUNK found the answer through the provision of a local, Kiwi owned operation based in Dunedin.
"It's a unique and brilliant solution developed by some very clever minds in and in fact it's so exceptional they've been able to patent it worldwide. Our exclusive relationship with them means it's available to assist anyone who is sick of spam and, as with all SPAMDUNK services, there are no downloads, no upgrades and no hassles," he says.
Once users have provided SPAMDUNK with their details the system automatically checks their inbox every 120 seconds and pulls out any spam and the filter is extremely accurate. Once it sweeps a mailbox it stores spam in a separate off-site box for 10 days to provide the opportunity to review and retrieve it if necessary. As with its other products, SPAMDUNK is so confident in this solution it is offering a 15-day free trial.
"A lot of companies depend on their own source of protection through the installation of anti-spam software, which can often be expensive and needs consistent maintenance and upgrades. But with the new system we've adopted, we can provide first-class email security for a business of any size, at a very low cost without the actual customer having to install, maintain or upgrade anything," he concludes.
The product is now available via the SPAMDUNK website www.spamdunk.co.nz. SPAMDUNK is a service that uses the latest anti spam and anti virus scanners in conjunction with an automated provisioning and reporting platform. This technology encompasses anti-spam, anti-virus, anti-porn and content management.
