More laughs on the way for Charlie's soda co. ad fans
Despite massive support from fans of the banned Charlie's Soda Co. television commercial, the Advertising Standards Authority has denied an appeal as a 14 day deadline has already passed.
Charlie's marketing manager, Ron Curteis, said: "Since the ASA decision was made public we have had an amazing response from New Zealanders supporting the Charlie's Soda Co. commercial and the phones and email have been running red hot.
"In true Charlie's spirit, we have moved on and are currently working on another entertaining advertising idea for Charlie's Soda Co which we hope to release soon."
He continued: "We are also pleased that this debacle has started debate about the double standards of advertising versus programming and may result in a review of the Advertising Code."
The television commercial for Charlie's Soda Co, which shows a cartoon of a childhood Marc Ellis and Stefan Lepionka peering over the fence to see the neighbour sunbathing naked, is still available for viewing on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5ZKXCE8j24
