New Look for ‘Not Quite’ New Zealand’s Largest Trading Site
Not quite ten years to the day it launched for the first time, online trading site tradeandexchange.co.nz officially
re-launched today, with a new look and navigation that simplifies and speeds up use of the site.
Tradeandexchange.co.nz originally launched in 1998, the first classified listing business in New Zealand to offer an
online trading service.
The site re-launch also marks the start of a new marketing campaign that pitches the site as ‘Not quite New Zealand’s
largest trading site’. Trade and Exchange founder Peter Whitmore explains the reason for the new direction.
“It’s pretty tongue in cheek of course, but what we can say is that while we’ve steadily expanded our categories over
the past few years, we have kept the site true to its roots as a free-to-list classified site only, steering clear of
the auction services championed by some of our competitors.
“So while we have a huge number of listings, we are ‘not quite’ the largest online trading site because we don’t have
any auction-type listings.
“With tradeandexchange.co.nz we simply want to provide people with a site to buy, sell and view classifieds. Our
research tells us that many people just want to ‘buy’ and ‘sell’ directly and with immediate effect, without having the
delay and lack of information on who they are dealing with, that often occurs with auction sites,” he said.
“Our refreshed site makes it now even easier to complete buying and selling transactions and also to navigate listing
categories. Feedback from users during a testing phase has been fantastic, with a steady stream of comments showing
overwhelming support for the changes.”
Peter went on to explain that Trade and Exchange’s listings have grown from around 25,000 to over 110,000 in the past
six months, contributed by large to the introduction of free listings for businesses in May last year.
“Businesses now can list thousands of products for free, which can mean huge savings for some, and provide buyers with
the opportunity to have easy access to thousands of household goods.”
