Move signals confidence in property market
Leading real estate company Bayleys Canterbury is moving into new premises in Merivale, Christchurch, as its market share grows and the business expands.
Bayleys Canterbury chief executive Scott McCrea says the move reflects the company’s confidence in the property market and its desire to strengthen its stronghold in the region by expanding its commercial, rural and residential sales teams.
“We’ve quite simply outgrown our current premises and need more room so that we can set up a second residential sales team and give our rural team more space to grow because that market is just booming,’’ Mr McCrea says.
December 2007 was the busiest month in the company’s history, with growth of over 30%.
Mr McCrea says that in addition to moving into new premises in Leinster Road, Merivale, Bayleys Canterbury also plans to set up a new office in Ashburton and is looking at other opportunities around the province.
“We’re anticipating continued strong activity in the property market and we want to make sure we are well placed to serve our clients across the region and beyond.
“While there has been talk of a slump in the property market we’ve yet to see any real evidence of it. Good properties are still fetching good prices and market activity is strong,’’ concludes Mr McCrea.
