Expat brings home LINK to a great career opportunity
A Kiwi expat working with specialist recruitment company LINK Recruitment is set to open the company’s first New Zealand office in February, with the aim of building career opportunities for professionals within the local job market.
Business Manager, Brien Keegan, will head up LINK Recruitment Auckland, using the company’s global client and candidate networks to help address the local skills shortage.
“More than 200,000 New Zealanders a year relocate to find work overseas, many of them permanently, because they believe there is a lack of career opportunities locally. We want to change that perception,” said Mr Keegan.
“The growth in the local economy has seen an increase in job prospects for skilled professionals. Leaving the country, or staying away, is no longer a prerequisite to advancing your career.”
LINK Recruitment Auckland will offer specialist recruitment services in accounting, financial services and office support. Mr Keegan said the office will work with local businesses and help them tap into both the local and international talent pool.
“We use traditional print and online advertising, our existing networks and innovative strategies such as social networking sites, to find and match the best candidates to our clients’ needs,” he said.
Jason Cartwright, General Manager New Zealand said that the new office will be a means of support for local businesses who are struggling to fill vacancies.
“LINK Recruitment is confident of the strength of the local job market and this is the basis of our decision to set up operations in Auckland. We believe that New Zealanders are willing to return home, it is just a matter of presenting them with the right opportunities,” said Mr Cartwright.
“With a global talent pool from offices in both Australia and London, LINK Recruitment Auckland will be an ideal source for both local and international candidates,” he said.

Case Study: Kiwi returns home to head up new office
Brien Keegan, 27, is returning home to Auckland after spending nearly three years working in Australia.
“Like many Kiwis who choose to go overseas to work, travel for me was only ever going to be a short-term decision,” he said. “I moved to Australia to help build my skill-set and increase my networks and now feel that the time is right to return home.”
Brien believes that New Zealand is a great place to do business both economically and culturally, and is pleased he is able to take his work back home after working in LINK Recruitment’s Melbourne office.
“I am lucky to have the opportunity to bring LINK Recruitment to New Zealand,” he said.
