Perennially popular products, like MP3 players, mobile phones and games, have been marching out the doors of Noel Leeming stores this Christmas but the biggest movers all have the latest bells and whistles.
Noel Leeming’s General Manager of Merchandise, Jason Bell, says that MP3 players of all shapes and sizes, including the brand new iPod Nano with video, are being snapped up in the final lead up to Christmas.
“While many people already have a phone or a MP3 player, they’re also dying to get their hands on the newest version with all the latest features,” he says
The unexpected success of the season for the nationwide retailer has been the GNX Digital Photo Key Ring, which Bell says has been hugely popular with gift givers of all ages. “We had to keep getting in more stock, such was the demand,” he says.
The key ring, which costs $34.99, has a 1.5-inch LCD screen and can carry up 74 digital photos that can be shown as a slideshow. “It’s been a great seller. People are obviously looking for some quirky fun presents to complement the staples they know everyone loves,” Jason says.
Other popular and unusual items which have been selling well include the Lennox Penguin Shower Radio and novelty food making products like the Kambrook Doughnut factory, Sunbeam Chocolate Fountain and Sunbeam Fairy floss maker.
Another perennial favourite has been Playstation SingStar games, with the hottest release this season being all the songs from the hit movie, High School Musical.
“All in all, it’s been a late but great Christmas. I think there’ll be some happy people finding some pretty nice gifts under the tree on Christmas Day,” Jason says.
