Origin Energy is pleased to announce the creation of the role of General Manager, Origin Energy New Zealand, to oversee
the company’s growing upstream interests in New Zealand.
The role, and the appointee, reflects Origin Energy’s decision that its growing interests in the New Zealand energy
sector have reached a stage which requires expert and dedicated local senior management oversight.
The inaugural appointee to the role is Chris Bush, a New Zealander who was previously based in Houston with Swift
Energy.
Chris will be based in New Plymouth. He will be responsible for managing Origin Energy’s upstream interests in New
Zealand including preparing the Kupe Gas Project for commissioning and operations. Chris will also lead representation
of Origin Energy with Government, regulators and energy industry associates in New Zealand.
The role will make the most of Chris’ leadership and experience in the energy industry in general management, business
development, and project management roles.
Chris was previously responsible for Swift Energy’s Taranaki operations; was General Manager of the Kapuni Gas
Processing and Cogeneration facility; and held a number of business development and project management roles within
Methanex and Mobil.
In addition to the Kupe Gas Project, Origin Energy’s current upstream interests in New Zealand include a wide portfolio
of offshore prospecting licences. The company also is majority owner of Contact Energy.
